My 9 yr old son attended Cannon Clubs summer camp this year (2019) for the first time. Our hope was to polish his skills while keeping him active during summer break. The instruction is second to none. I remember the kids tossing water balloons back and fourth at the end of practice without their gloves. I thought, that's a good idea since its 100+ degrees outside. My son told me they were practicing receiving the water balloon with "soft hands", similar to how a professional infielder would. He makes all the drills fun while keeping them centered around baseball.
Once I heard Dave was starting a team I wanted my son to be a part of it. Under Dave's guidance and instruction my son has really developed in just one club ball season. It's not just the videos of my sons swing or him teaching the "Power L" while pitching that he diagnoses, it's the pleasure he gets from teaching and seeing them improve that sets him apart from other coaches.
As a parent all I could ask for is that my son has fun, forms friendships, all while improving his skills. These expectations were greatly exceeded. Dave is an amazing pitching coach. I had a different pitching coach before but Dave has helped me take my pitching to a new level. Dave tells you things to change and it’s really helpful. He has given me a lot more confidence. A few seasons ago I didn’t trust my change up now I trust my change up and I learned a curve ball from Dave. He just recommended a book to me that is called Mind Gym by Gary Mack and David Casstevens foreword by Alex Rodriguez. Mind Gym is a book on the mental game of baseball. This has been helpful. I really recommend having Dave as your pitching coach.
